Dental Implants. About Implant prosthesis, Snap in dentures, Teeth-in-an-Hour and Prosthetic dentistry.
A dental implant is an artificial root that is placed where the natural root has been. The result looks like and feels like their own natural teeth and is a treatment that increases the quality of life. Our teeth are not only important to chew your food properly, but also to speak clearly and give your face a smooth appearance.
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is made of titanium and shaped like a screw. The implant is placed into the jawbone and serves as a root for the new tooth. When the implant is in place, it can be used to attach different types of artificial teeth, for example, crowns, bridges or dentures. Implant Treatment was really prevalent in the mid 60s. The implant is inserted by a surgeon specially trained dentist. Leading dental implant manufacturers are Straumann, Nobel Biocare (Braanemark) and Astra Tech.
Why choose implant treatment?
When you lose one, several or all teeth, there is a desire or need to get these replaced with artificial teeth. Furthermore it has been good and proven methods as bridges or dentures. Various conditions may do that if you have lost a front tooth, do not want a bridge, because it requires that you have to grind on intact adjacent teeth. Older people who have long gone with dentures find that it gets harder and harder to control prostheses, because the gum shrinks. To restore a natural, aesthetic and beautiful smile is more than just restoring teeth can chew and speak to; it also means a re-creation and improvement of quality of life. Implant Treatment offers fixed replacements that are firmly anchored in the jawbone as natural teeth.
When you've lost one tooth or several teeth
When you only need a single tooth, an implant with a crown will probably be the best solution to regain chewing function and natural appearance. A lack of several teeth, a bridge or crowns provide the best solution to restore chewing function and appearance.
When you've lost all your teeth
If all your teeth are missing in the upper or lower jaw, you can either get a great bridge that is supported by implants or a denture, fixed with implants. A full bridge is fixed to five implants and can only be removed by the dentist. A prosthesis that attaches using Implants, has called attachments as an interface between implant and prosthesis, and it stuck with at least two implants. One can then remove the prosthesis, but when it is seated in the mouth, there is no risk that it becomes loose. What is the best treatment depends on the individual situation and personal wishes. The type and amount of bone and your clenching will also play a role in what will be the best solution for the individual.
Fixed teeth in one hour (teeth-in-an-hour) is a new breakthrough surgical technique offered by specialized implant clinics across the country. New technology now makes it possible that edentulous in one hour can be inserted implants and jammed teeth, where it previously could take up to six months to get a new over the mouth. In preliminary investigations CT scan (Computed Tomography) jaws together with a model of the desired future teeth and produce a 3-dimensional image of a mouth and jaw bone. Recordings are edited on the computer where the dentist exactly determine where the implants should sit in order to be placed in good bone. From the computer model, using CAD / CAM technique produced both the completed bridge and also a guide rail that is placed on the patient, so the implants will sit exactly where desired. - Click FAQs and read more >>
On the day of surgery is the guide rail and finally bridge ready. The patient local anesthetic, the guide rail positioned and are fixed and the implants are placed through small holes punched in the gums. After typically 1 hour, all implants screwed in and the final bridge with the new teeth are screwed. This method makes the surgery less painful and more gentle, and the subsequent time without much discomfort, so it shortly after surgery can both eat, drink and smile, and thus return to everyday life with full of life and turn that function immediately. This method is typically 15-20% more expensive than traditional treatment.
Can everybody get implants inserted?
In principle yes, but in practice there are some limitations, eg a lower age limit of 18 years. Growth should in fact be completed before the implants are placed into the jawbone, as they do not come with growth. Young people who have had teeth knocked out, must therefore wait with implants until they are 18 years old. Meanwhile, they go with a small 'smile prosthesis' or 'etch bridge' as a temporary replacement for missing teeth. Conversely, there is no upper age limit for the inserted implant. It can be said that the implant is an alternative to the bridges and prosthesis - and can be used for anything from a single tooth for an entire upper and lower foot. Implants are a safe way to replace teeth, whether you've lost one, many or all of your teeth. Dental Implants. Why so expensive?
Implant treatment is expensive, but on the other side is all the more fairly among other things because the investment in most cases will last for 30 years and is helping to improve quality of life. However, the cost borne entirely by the patient, the public health insurance does not provide grants. If you have lost a front tooth, the cost of a three-membered bridge versus an implant solution basically the same, but it's still a lot of money. - Talk to your dentist and get an estimate.
